Gemstone price guide
What decides a gemstone’s price in Pakistan, with real examples from our shop and how to compare them.
What sets the price
Eight factors that matter
Colour
Hue, tone and saturation. The most important factor for most coloured stones.
Clarity
Fewer visible inclusions usually mean a higher price, though some stones are prized for them.
Cut
A well-cut stone returns more light and looks larger and livelier.
Carat weight
Price per carat usually rises as stones get bigger and rarer.
Origin
Stones from famous localities, such as Swat emeralds, are often worth more.
Treatment
Untreated stones are rarer and command more than treated ones.
Rarity
Uncommon colours and sizes cost more than common ones.
Certification
An independent report adds trust, especially on high-value stones.

Smart buying
Tips before you buy
How do I compare two stones fairly?
Compare the same stone type, similar weight and similar colour, and ask whether each is treated. A lower price for an unlike stone is not a bargain.
Is a bigger carat weight always better value?
Not always. A smaller stone with better colour and clarity can be worth more than a larger, duller one.
Should I ask for a certificate?
For higher-value stones, yes. Certification costs a small fraction of the price and confirms the identity and treatment of the stone.
Can I get a live rate for a stone?
Yes. Message us the stone, weight and quality you want and we will quote the current price.
Want a price for a specific stone?
Send us the details and we will quote today’s rate.
